Simply Speaking


User Interface

Simply Speaking appears as a toolbar on top of the screen. As soon as it is up and running, it begins talking to you.


Control buttons

Go to sleep
This button suspends the microphone disabling all commands except the next one. When pressed, it turns into Wake up button; the avatar disappears.
Wake up
This button activates microphone back enabling all commands. When pressed, it turns into Go to sleep button. The avatar comes back.
 
Begin dictation
This button starts free dictation to the selected window. When pressed, it turns into Stop dictation button.
Stop dictation
This button stops free dictation and switches to the Command Mode. When pressed, it turns into Begin dictation button.
What can I say?
When pressed, this button displays a list of currently available commands.
 
Begin reading
This button copies selected text from the foreground window and starts reading it sentence-by-sentence. When pressed, it turns into Stop reading button.
Stop reading
This button stops reading selected text.
Pause reading
When this button is pressed, reading is stopped. To continue reading click this button again.
Reading in a window
When pressed, this button opens reading in a separate window. The reading may be paused or stopped. Its volume and speed become manageable. Useful for reading and correcting of dictated text.
 
Volume level indicator
This indicator shows volume level of your microphone. It should be green or yellow. If it turns red too often, you have to take Audio Setup.
 
Manage users
Opens Manage Users window which allows to add and remove users, edit user information, and select default user.
Microphone setup
Starts Audio Setup Wizard accompanied by talking manual lesson.
Enrollment
Starts ViaVoice enrollment program accompanied by talking manual lesson.
Help
Starts talking manual lesson describing Simply Speaking.
Open Web site
Opens predefined Web page.
 
Exit
Closes Simply Speaking.
